Accepts a single PDF. Clears the document information dictionary. Page content, bookmarks and form fields are not changed.
How to remove PDF metadata
- Add your PDF.
- Click Remove metadata.
- Download the cleaned copy. Your original file is untouched.
- Optionally verify the result with View PDF Metadata.
What is removed — and what is not
- Removed: title, author, subject, keywords, creator application, PDF producer, creation and modification dates.
- Not removed: text and images on the pages, annotations, embedded fonts' internal names, or metadata inside embedded images. This is metadata cleaning, not redaction.
- If sensitive information is visible on the pages themselves, deleting metadata does not hide it.
Common problems
- Another app still shows dates — some viewers display file-system dates from your disk, which are outside the PDF and not affected.
- “This PDF is password-protected” — decrypt the file first.
What happens to your files?
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file is opened in your device's memory, processed there, and the result is saved back to your device. The document is never uploaded to a server. You can confirm this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and process a file — no request contains your document. Closing the tab discards everything. See how local processing works.
